Through our grassroots lobbying and mobilization programs, we can encourage a supporter to take action on behalf of a timely cause. We help clients draft a message and schedule a campaign to meet immediate grassroots, legislative and electoral goals. With a telephone call, we might urge a constituent to contact a congressional leader regarding an issue before the floor or simply remind a voter to go to the polls.

These timely campaigns are most successful if the most effective supporters are reached at once. Share can research and draw up a list of contacts that would be most likely to respond to the issue of the moment.

For more information about our grassroots initiatives, electoral consulting services, telephone surveys and special events programs, please see below, or contact us to speak with a senior client service representative.

Grassroots Lobbying

Our grassroots activism programs make use of pass-through calling (third Party Transfer), authorized letters, mailgrams, and faxes. With pass-through calling, our staff connects your members to a congressional aide, a foreign embassy or a corporate official to register their position on a bill, a situation, or public debate. We will also contact supporters and ask if we can send a card, mail-gram, or fax in their name. As well, Share now has a web application that enables us to send the same message from client to member to third party via e-mail.

Voter Contact

Voter contact programs may vary in intent and result. A voter identification survey can ascertain how a voter feels about a particular issue or candidate. This is critical for incumbent officials and potential candidates. A voter-persuasion call will encourage an undecided constituent to vote a particular way. Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) programs target voters on or near election day and help facilitate their participation in the election, even literally directing them to the appropriate polling venue.

For past elections cycles, Share Group has managed many of the GOTV efforts for the Democratic Party, with multi-state campaigns that made millions of coordinated phone calls for congressional, senatorial and presidential candidates.

Membership & Donor Surveys

Telephone surveys provide the demographics and opinions of an organization's membership or donor base. Polling a constituency can yield strategic recommendations by exploring an organization's image, probing important issues or policies, examining why members offer financial support or why they refuse to renew that support and measuring what might motivate prospective members to join an organization.

Our professional surveys offer a statistically reliable measurement for decision-making. Our surveys also help us gather unbiased, representative and timely data about public issues for the purposes of analysis, policy and publication.

Sample Outreach and Mobilization Programs

Here are some examples of the sort of work Share Group has conducted over the past few years:

Working on behalf of an environmental nonprofit organization, we conducted a grassroots-lobbying program that generated 2,262 pass-through calls to senators voicing support for a bill to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. While the bill lost by one vote, enough changes were made in conference committee that the outcome was positive for our client and the environment.

A client sent a self-mailer to over 3 million individuals encouraging them to tell the U.S. Forest Service that they support a plan that would protect woodlands and halt logging and mining encroachments. We followed this mailing with a phone call to a subset of 1.8 million and made 1.1 million contacts reminding members to send back their postcards.

When President Bush nominated John Ashcroft for Attorney General, we immediately went to work with a human rights organization and drew up a database of notably responsive members that we had in-house from prior programs. In short order, we amassed a file of 130,000 records and established an automated calling program that urged the supporters to contact their senator and register their opposition to this nomination.
